The Alliance of the North is a Canadian political party based in the province of Quebec. In the 2015 federal election, the party has nominated one candidate, its leader François Bélanger in Lévis—Lotbinière. == Ideology == On its website, the party created a list of nine priorities, developed in September 2013, which form the foundation of its ideology.〔http://alliancedunord.ca/adnen.html〕 Justice The party supports direct election of judges, investigation into specific government ministries, and a clear separation between the legislative and executive branches of the government.〔http://alliancedunord.ca/adnfr.html〕 Immigration The party is opposed to the current levels of immigration into the country. The party pledges to reduce immigration by 50%, and to block immigration from African countries, especially those with serious disease outbreaks.〔 Abortion The party is fervently pro-life. The party says that it is "the duty of all civil governments to secure and safeguard the lives of the unborn".〔 Size of Government The party pledges to reduce the size of the federal government, citing that "the only legitimate purpose of civil government is to safeguard the God given rights of its citizens, namely: life, liberty, and property".〔 Defence The party opposes any attempts at unilateral disarmament of the country or any other reductions in Canada's defence.
